31 Jan 2020 updates: The World Health Organisation declares COVID19 as a global emergency.

Updates on the Wuhan Coronavirus: The World Health Organisation has declared the COVID-19 outbreak to be a global emergency, highlighting the risk that it presents outside of China. However, we note that the number of suspected and confirmed cases continue to diverge, which brings optimism to the current situation.

Furthermore, the death rate of the common flu stands at about 1% (which likely does not take into account deaths from complications), while the death rates from the COVID-19 is currently estimated at 2% (which likely includes all deaths, as long as the individual is a confirmed patient). In contrast, the death rate for SARS is nearly 10%. Despite the situation, it is equally important to stay calm while continue taking necessary measures to contain the spread.
